Dream on buddy. Proprietary runtimes have a history of being usurped by the best of standards compliant technologies like HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript. There is nothing you can’t do with those 3 technologies that a bloated “RIA” will do better. Flex and Silverlight are toys for the lazy click an drag developer.

What about Silverlight? (See discussion here : http://en.blog.ammado.com/technology/silverlight-is-a-big-deal/ ) I think MS’s headlong plunge into RIA not only changes the whole landscape when scanning the horizon of the web’s future, but also somehow boosts Flex’s standing in that landscape. It somehow legitimises the whole RIA space, and on top of that begins to send the whole HTML/JS/AJAX thing into the shadows of obscurity and redundancy
